FAQ

  • Expand/Collapse Are reservations required?

Reservations are not required for our D.C. bike tours but are highly recommended to guarantee that there will be space on the tour. If you have children in your group, if you are booking a large group (8 or more), or if you are looking to book a night tour, reservations are strongly recommended.

  • Expand/Collapse What is your cancellation policy?

We offer 100% refunds on all tours if the reservation is cancelled more than 72 hours (3 days) before the scheduled tour. We do not offer refunds for any reason once we are within 72 hours of the scheduled tour.

  • Expand/Collapse Do we go inside the museum and monuments?

Unfortunately, we cannot enter the museums due to time constraints on the Day and Night Bike Tour. Besides, there's always some people that want 10 minutes in the Smithsonians and others that want 3 hours. We do reserve time to walk around some memorials on tour (for example, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial). Our bike tours are designed to enjoy the city from a broad perspective so that's what we're going to do!

  • Expand/Collapse Are tours cancelled in case of rain?

No, our tours run rain or shine. We have ponchos available for anyone that needs them in our office. They are only $1 and we gladly will buy them back from you if you don't use them during your tour. We encourage all guests to take a look at the forecasted weather and plan how you dress accordingly.

  • Expand/Collapse How big will my group be?

Our tours operate in groups of 16 people per tour guide.

  • Expand/Collapse Are bike tours appropriate for kids?

Absolutely! We love hosting families and our tours make a great family-friendly activity. You can see all of our bike options, including kid's equipment by clicking here. Please note that no kids options would be available for the Electric Bike tours.

  • Expand/Collapse Can I rent a bike without a guide?

Yes! We are happy to provide hourly and daily bike rentals out of our office. Please see our Bike Rentals page for more information and how to reserve a bike.

  • Expand/Collapse Do your tours ride in the streets?

For some parts, but most of our tour is on the National Mall or on large bike/pedestrian paths. We carefully designed tour routes with safety as the top priority. Whether on the street, bike lane, or pedestrian path, you always have a tour guide who is an expert and safely maneuvering your group around the city.

  • Expand/Collapse Do I have to wear a helmet?

Yes. Your safety is top priority for us and studies have shown that helmets can reduce head injuries by at least 85%. Therefore, we do require all riders to wear helmets on our tours.

  • Expand/Collapse What is provided with the tour?

Along with one of our phenomenal tour guides, every guest will recieve a bike, helmet, and a bottle of water. Additional waters are available for purchase in our office for $1 and we also have a water bottle filling station that is available to use for free.

  • Expand/Collapse Whats the difference between the Day Bike and Night Bike Tours?

The difference is day and night! Our day time bike tour will take you to the White House, U.S. Capitol Building, the National Mall, Lincoln Memorial and everything in between. Our night bike tour will go to the Lincoln, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials then around the Tidal Basin to check out the Martin Luther King, Franklin Roosevelt, and Jefferson Memorials. The night bike tour is a perfect mix of biking around our beautiful city and walking around the memorials, where the day bike is scheduled to maximize the number of sites visited while still keeping a leisurely pace.

Note, the night bike tour will NOT visit the U.S. Capitol Building.

Washington, D.C. Day Bike Tour Reviews

WASHINGTON, DC DAY BIKE TOUR is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 92.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME BIKE RIDE & GUIDE We had the best time riding around Washington DC with our guide, John. He was super nice, and very knowledgeable. He kept my 10 and 11 year old boys interested the whole ride, which is no easy task. John gave us time in certain spots to get off the bikes and visit the different monuments and walls. He pointed out and spoke about, not only historical spots, but also some places that we should come back and visit while in DC. My family had never been to DC before, so we didn't know What was Where! Now we have a good grasp of the city and mall for our next visit. It was the only way to get around and see everything!!! WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bike tour Washington DC We completed the bike tour of Washington this month and were very disappointed.Fabulous city but the guide's knowledge was very limited. We had to ask questions and often the answer was not known..we felt we would have been better off hiring bikes and reading our own guide book..which we did after the tour. We had travelled from Australia and felt we did not get value for money. We have attended many tours in Europe and this was well below par. This was a very historic city and the lack of information regarding architecture, history or the surrounding very interesting buildings and parks was disappointing and unfortunate. We would not recommend this tour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite part of the Trip Over spring break we did a bike tour with Andrew. He was so friendly, informative, funny, and he made the tour very interesting. The bike tour was not only a great experience because we got to see the city on bikes, but mainly because of our amazing tour guide. Along the trip he told stories, he was interactive, and he made it fun for my brother and I who are school age. I especially enjoyed the story of how William Taft got stuck in the bathtub. This was definitely my favorite part of our trip. To anyone visiting DC, I would highly recommend the bike tour. Thank you Andrew for the wonderful experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great way to see the city! We have two boys, 12 and 16 years old. We all loved the bike tour - what a fantastic experience! I would do it again and again and again. The only bummer we had was that we were told at our last spot that we only had 15 minutes to see the Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memeorial and Veterans Memorial. It was an encredibly hot day so needless to say we were not able to enjoy these last three spot. We were extremely rushed and we were only able to glance at two of them. I think better time management on the front end of our trip would have helped with this matter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice tour but... The tour was nice, all the guys were very gentle and efficient. Only a claim by me...I'm a good english speaking persona but I'm european and my english is the British one so I had lots of problems in understanding our guide that was speaking too fast. I couldn't understand almost anything!!!! So my suggestion is, if you want also European clients, please speak more clearly and slowly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Educational & FUN!!! This tour was the perfect introduction to Washington DC for our kids. We were able to see almost every major monument and sight seeing spot on our list. Learn some insider info and informational facts about them and get some wonderful pictures. This was also a great activity to do early on in our trip as it helped us get acquainted with the area and allowed us to get a taste of everything. Things we really loved or were more interested in we ended up going back to and other places we thought we might have liked but maybe weren't worth our time we were able to skip allowing us to really maximize our time here. I would also love to mention that the team was super efficient and knowledgeable and I loved all the options they had available for families.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way of spending the day We did the bike tour 8/27, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. I planned our trip pretty well including a baseball and preseason football game, 3 museums and sightseeing. I knew we had the remainder of the day with no plans and surfed the Web for ideas when the bike tour came up. I bike with the kids a lot and was not to worried about them keeping up, more worried about my wife who had not been on a bike in years. Tour was a great way of seeing the sights and getting enough info about each one of them. Sights would be way to far to walk with the kids in a day. The tour leaders were great with my kids who loved being able to use their history of dc knowledge. Great 3 hours of a little exercise and sights. Highly recommend this group.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best way to see DC!!! The Washington DC bike tour was recommended to us by several friends and I think it is the best way to get around to see all the sights. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, genuine and fun. I had 4 teenagers with me and they enjoyed it as well. Younger children would have no problem getting around on the bikes. This is one of the first things we did in DC and it is a great way to see the locations of the many other museums and points of interest. I have friends coming next month and I will highly recommend the DC day tour!!!!
