Adler Planetarium

Founded in 1930 by Max Adler, this public museum is dedicated to the subjects of astronomy and astrophysics. The Adler was the first planetarium built in the Western hemisphere and contains astronomical artifacts and instruments dating back to 12th century Persia. In addition to its scientific exhibits, the Adler Planetarium is home to full-size theatres and a lakeside public observatory which allows visitors to see planets, stars, galaxies up-close, in addition to one of the best panoramic views of Chicago's skyline.
