What is a Segway?
The SegwayTM Human Transporter is the first of its kind-a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes that automatically respond to your body’s movements, “sensing” when it should speed up and slow down.
You stand on a small platform between left and right wheels as you hold onto handlebars at a comfortable waist height. The Segway handles the balancing for you, so that you’re always upright as you glide through any environment.

Is there a weight limit or minimum age for the tour and do I need a driver's license?
There is a weight limit of 250 lbs. (117 kilograms) to ride Segways. All participants must also be at least 15 years old and possess at least a moped or auto drivers license.
What if I can't ride or don't meet the weight or license requirements?
We are happy to accomodate you on tour with an E-Bike, provided one is available. If you do not meet the requirements for riding Segways but would like to join others in your group on the Segway Tour, please contact us in advance to check the availability of E-Bikes on your tour date.
How far in advance do I need to reserve?
Occasionally we do have space available should you call the morning of your desired tour. This, however, is rare and we suggest you reserve as far ahead of time as possible. We tend to fill all of our tours.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer 100% refunds on all tours if the reservation is canceled more than 72 hours (3 days) before the scheduled tour. We do not offer refunds for any reason once we are within 72 hours of the scheduled tour.
Is there a minimum / maximum number of participants?
We have no minimum number for our tours to go out! Our tours run already with just one participant. We believe your vacation is too valuable to waste on minimum tour participant requirements. Regarding maximums, we do of course only have a limited number of machines. Also, for safety and group comfort reasons we split groups of more than 8 participants.
Are the tours canceled in case of rain?
No, our tours run rain or shine. We have ponchos available for anyone that needs them in our office.
Do we go inside the museums and monuments?
We do stop at Checkpoint Charlie and allow you to explore the outside area on your own. However, we do not go in to any of the museums as most require an official employee of theirs to conduct a guided tour and while some people may want to spend 10 minutes in a museum, others may want to spend 4 hours. We’re here to Segway and enjoy the city so that’s what we’re going to do!
Can I rent a Segway without a guide?
Unfortunately, we cannot rent our Segways out to individuals without a guide. Since our tours are virtually always full, we need all machines for our tour customers.
Is there a damage deposit for the Segway tour?
While no deposit is taken before tour, you will need to fill out a fast disclaimer and damage waiver form before joining tour.
Can I purchase a Segway from City Segway Tours?
We can help you get the coolest machine in the world. Please just call us at +49 30 2404 7991 or send us an email.
What happens if, after the training period, I am not comfortable with the Segway?
We have a comprehensive training session at the start of every tour. If you don't feel comfortable after training, you can continue with the group by bike, or we will offer you a refund.
Are the Segways safe for children or people with disabilities?
Although riding a Segway is relatively easy to do and learn, we do require that all riders be at least 15 years of age and possess a moped or auto license. A good rule of thumb is that stepping on and off of a Segway is like stepping up and down stairs, so you should be able to climb stairs without assistance in order to be able to comfortably and safely ride a Segway.
Each of our tours begins with a 30-minute orientation session. We will practice on the Segways until everyone feels comfortable.
